What does a heat pump cost in 2026?

Guide prices for hybrid, all-electric and the heat-pump water heater, the five factors that drive the price — and how subsidy weighs in.

Installing a hybrid heat pump in 2026 costs on average € 4,000 to € 7,000 including installation. If you want to go fully off gas, a full (all-electric) heat pump comes to € 8,000 to € 18,000, depending on the capacity and the adjustments to your heat-emission system. A heat-pump water heater, which handles tap water only, costs € 2,000 to € 4,000.

The price depends on five factors: the choice between hybrid and full, the required capacity (floor area, insulation level and the home's heat loss), the heat-emission system (underfloor heating runs at low temperature; undersized radiators sometimes need supplementing or replacing), the position of the indoor and outdoor unit with the associated pipe run, and finally brand, noise level and possible extra work in the meter cupboard.

Subsidy offsets part of the purchase: heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters qualify for the Dutch national ISDE scheme, whose amount differs per appliance. Ask the installer to state the subsidy amount explicitly in the quote, so you compare quotes on the net price. Budget for recurring costs too: a maintenance visit costs € 150 to € 300 and many manufacturers require periodic servicing for the warranty.

Request multiple quotes and check that the quote rests on a heat-loss survey rather than a guess — an undersized heat pump cannot keep the house warm, an oversized one cycles and wears faster. Set every quote against the price index before you sign.
