During a maintenance visit the engineer checks the refrigerant circuit, cleans filters and the heat exchanger, inspects the condensate drain and the settings, and measures whether the system still delivers the efficiency it should. A dirty or poorly tuned system uses noticeably more power.
A single visit costs € 150 to € 300, depending on the type of system. Advice: have the heat pump checked periodically — many manufacturers require periodic servicing to keep the warranty valid.
Work on the refrigerant circuit is legally reserved for F-gas-certified engineers. DIY stays limited to keeping filters dust-free and the outdoor unit clear of leaves and dirt.
