A hybrid heat pump works together with your existing boiler: the heat pump provides most of the year's heating, while the boiler assists on cold days and keeps handling hot water. A hybrid therefore demands far less from insulation and radiators than a full heat pump — for most existing homes it is the logical first step.

Expect € 4,000 to € 7,000 including installation, depending on the capacity, the brand and the pipe run to the outdoor unit. The national ISDE subsidy returns part of the purchase price; ask the installer to state the subsidy amount in the quote.

Work on the refrigerant circuit is legally reserved for F-gas-certified companies — ask about it with the quote. A good installer also balances the heat-emission system during installation, so the heat pump runs as much as possible and the boiler as little as possible.
